2019 Porsche 911

The journey never stops, particularly for Porsche. As
enthusiasts eagerly wait for the release of the 2017 lineup of
Porsche 911 models, the automaker is busy testing a 2019
prototype of the car considered as one of the best sports cars
in the globe. According to the photos of the 2019 Porsche 911
prototype that is codenamed “992”, the design is an evolution
of the current model and it continues the 911 gradual

2019 Porsche 911 Exterior

After conducting first tests wrapped in the bodies of the
current 911, in 2017, Porsche has been testing the model with a
mule that is significantly different from the current 911
models. This body features a couple of new LED headlights as
well as revised trunk-lid. On the sides, the model features
revised rear fenders. At the rear, the next-gen Porsche 911 has
new taillights whose design is adopted from the Mission E
concept. It retractable rear spoiler has been enlarged.

The 911 will still be offered in a convertible as well as targa
bodies and as usual, expect the variants i.e. the Carrera,
Turbo and the GTS to have extra upgrades to tell them apart as
is the case with the current  911 lineup.

2019 Porsche 911 Interior

As you may have guessed, the interior of the next-gen Porsche
911 is a mystery. Most likely, Porsche has not even started
designing the cabin. For 2019, the cabin will most likely be
overhauled. Therefore, expect a new dash, a new center console
and a revised instrument cluster. I bet the steering wheel will
also be revised perhaps to look like that of the 918 Spyder. In
terms of technologies, you can expect a new and more advanced
infotainment system with a huge screen.

I also expect the seats to be upgraded for better support and
comfort. More information will be available close to the
model’s release date.

Engine and performance

As of this writing, nothing much is known about what will power
the lineup of the 2019 Porsche 911 models. However, on the
Carrera and Carrera S models, I expect the current 3.0 L,
turbocharged inline-6 mill to carry over. This engine has just
been introduced on the model for the 2017 model year replacing
the model’s previous natural aspirated mills. Thus, I expect
the engine to carry over for the Carrera and Carrera S models
for 2019. Currently, the engine produces 370 hp and 331 lb-ft
of torque in the Carrera and 420 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque in
the Carrera S.

The 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S models are likely to get a new
mill or an upgraded version of the current 3.8 L, turbocharged
flat-6 engine. Currently, this engine produces 520 hp on the
Turbo and 560 hp on the Turbo S. Whatever the case, the mill
for 2019 will bump output to around 550 horses for the Turbo
and almost 600 hp for the Turbo S.

Porsche is also believed to be working on a new hybrid engine.
Most likely, the automaker will adopt the system used by the
919 racecar that combines a flat-four gasoline engine with
electric motors. The automaker could also decide to design a
new system specifically for the 911.

That is not all. There are also rumors about an all-electric
drivetrain for the 2019 Porsche 911. This rumor has some
credibility considering the automaker showcased an almost
production-ready eclectic vehicle (the Mission E concept) in

Price and release date

The model is way too far from its official release date. In
fact, Porsche is yet to release prices of all iterations of the
2017 Porsche 911 models. This means an official report on the
2019 model prices is not coming any time soon. However,
considering the base 911 starts at $89,400 currently, expect
the 2019 model to fetch around $100,000, the Turbo will set one
back over $160,000 while the Turbo S could fetch in excess of
$200,000 with all option boxes selected. The model will arrive
in dealerships in either late 2018 or early 2019.
