If you have been following Porsche, by now you must be confused
at how many 911 variants the automaker produces. Well to answer
you, they are just many; 20 to be more specific.
Porsche has decided to hook up all the 911 models with
turbochargers but despite the new development, the Turbo and
its twin sister Turbo S will still sit at the top of the 911
lineup. The models even come with more power to ensure they
remain at the summit.
The automaker plans to kick off 2016 in style and will display
the 911 Turbos at the Detroit Auto Show in January before
taking them to dealer showrooms in April. Both models will be
availed in Coupe and Convertible bodies.
2017 Porsche 911 Turbo Exterior
To the uninitiated, it will be hard to tell the difference
between the 911 Carrera’s, the outgoing Turbos and the new 911
Turbos as they all look almost similar. However, a closer look
reveals the subtle differences.
The new 911 Turbos feature a set of new headlights with two
projectors replacing the single piece in the outgoing models.
The front also features dual LED fog lights which have a
tube-like shape, modified air intakes and a lower nose.
On the sides the new 911 Turbos feature fewer changes. Gone are
plastic door-handle recesses which have been replaced with
integrated recesses meant to reduce its drag. At the back, the
Turbos feature lengthwise air vents on their rear hoods and
revised 3D tail lamps that look wider. There are air outlets on
the outside wedges of the bumper and reflectors that cross over
the air outlets all new for 2017 models.
The dual exhaust outlets on either side have also been slightly
tweaked while the deck-lid features vertical slats. The 911

The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo, will be equipped with the Sport
Chrono Package as standard. The package comes with the GT sport
steering wheel adopted from the 918 Spyder and a mode switch
mounted on the steering wheel. This switch enables the driver
to choose among the 4 available modes (Normal, Sport, Sport +
and the customizable Individual mode).
The vehicle also features a Sport Response button which when
pressed prepares the engine to go for maximum acceleration
after 20 seconds. The cabin will also feature Adaptive Sport
Seats Plus, sport mirrors, active roll stabilization, the
automaker’s Composite Ceramic Braking system, sport-designed
mirrors, a rear-view camera, Park assist and the automaker’s
new Communication management system that integrates online
navigation all as standard.
If you feel that is not enough, you can choose the Turbo S
which comes with additional features and options for
customization. The Turbo S adds 18-way power adjustable seats,
extra doses of carbon-fiber trim, anti-roll system, 2-tone
leather interior, carbon-fiber ceramics and a 7-inch touch
screen that is used to control its Communications Manager
Infotainment system not forgetting a 555-watt Bose audio
Engine Specs and Performance
Good news to speed lovers, the new 911 Turbos come with a
revamped engine with more muscle to flaunt on the streets. As
with the outgoing models, the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S
feature a single drive-train. However, the engine has been
equipped to offer more output. The unit is a 3.8 L, flat-6. The
engine on the 911 Turbo is enhanced with two Turbos with larger
compressors, new injectors, intake ports and a higher fuel
pressure which make it produce 540 hp from 520 hp on the
The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo sprints from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds
and has a top speed of 198 mph, 2 mph more than the previous
models. The Turbo S engine features more boost pressure which
helps it pump 580 hp up from 560 hp. The 911 Turbo S on
the other hand accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds
and has a top speed of 205 mph.
Porsche argues that the models are more fuel efficient despite
the added output courtesy of a seven-speed PDK transmission

Price and release date
Porsche has already announced that the 911 Turbo and Turbo S
will be displayed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show this January
with sales commencing in April.
The 911 has a starting price of $ 160,195 with its Cabriolet
starting at $ 172,495. On the other hand, the 911 Turbo S Coupe
will start at $ 189,095 and $ 201,395 for the Turbo S
Cabriolet. The prices are inclusive of a $ 995 destination
