2017 Peugeot 3008 GT

Peugeot only launched the 3008 lineup of crossover SUVs in
2016. Now, only a year later, the automaker is set to add two
trims in the new lineup. The new models are the
top-of-the-range 300 GT and a GT Line. The GT Line is a model
which brides the gap between the standard 3008 models and the
GT. This review  focuses on the range topping 2017 Peugeot
3008 GT.

Peugeot has upgraded  the model to up its game against
premium compact crossover SUVs in the market. The model has
been upgraded with exclusive exterior features, a more
luxurious cabin and a befitting mill under its hood. Read along
to find out more on the new GT trim:

2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Exterior

Like any other GT models, the 3008 GT comes with a number of
exterior upgrades that make it look more elegant and sportier
compared to its siblings.  At the front, the 3008 GT
features a revised bumper which is more prominent. The bumper
combines with the model’s wider wheel arches to give the model
a wider and more aggressive look.  The grille has unique
chrome trim while the headlights feature sequential scrolling
LED signals.

On the sides, the GT features chrome mirror caps and revised
aluminum roof rails. Unlike the standard models which feature
17-inch or 18-inch wheels, the 300GT rides on 19-inch, two-tone
alloy wheels.

The rear features chrome exhaust tips. A “GT” badge is fitted
on the trunk lid to announce its top dog status to whoever
cares to look.

For some extra cash, you can opt for the Coupe Franche paint
work to stand out from other models. This paint job features an
asymmetrical 2-tone finish, where the rear fenders, C-pillars,
tailgate and rear doors are painted black while the rest of the
body is painted in a choice among three contrasting colors.

2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Interior

The cabin has also been revised to suit its top-of-the-range
status. The automaker has taken the standard 3008 cabin and
added an array of luxury features to make it more luxurious and
comfortable.  The revisions start with the dash where the
automaker has added a genuine aged-oak trim. This oak trim
extends to the upper door panels. The dash also features
Aikinite copper double contrast stitching which is also used on
the center armrest, door panels, floor mats, the steering wheel
and the gear lever.

Gone are the standard seats in standard 3008 models which have
been replaced with new sport seats. The seats are also
luxuriously upholstered with a combination of Nappa Mistral
leather and Brumeo cloth. Things get better for the driver
where the new seat is offered with multipoint massage function,
memory settings and power adjustment, an option for the
standard models. A panoramic glass roof is also offered as
standard. The roof comes with an electric interior blind as
well as blue ambient lighting.

For extra convenience, the model comes with the new i-Cockpit
which features a huge 12.3-inch touch-screen on the dash. A
second 8.0-inch screen hosts the instrument cluster. The
automaker has also hooked up the 30008 GT with a flat-bottomed
sport steering wheel.

Connectivity is also well taken off with addition of the
MirrorScreen which enables a Smartphone screen to be reproduced
on the vehicle’s touch-screen to easily access apps. The system
is compatible with Apple CarPlay and of course MirrorLink. The
system is further supported by a remote voice recognition
system which enables the driver to operate various tasks such
as making calls, browsing music or sending texts without
shifting his/her attention from the road.

The vehicle also features 3D navigation and induction charging
for Smartphones. The navigation system features the Tom Tom
which relays real-time weather updates, traffic information,
near service stations, parking lots and events in the

Audiophiles are not left in the cold as the model comes with a
10-speaker premium Focal audio system along with mid-range
woofers and TNF tweeters. The system features a 7.8-inch screen
on the Power Flower subwoofer. With the additional 12-channel
amplifier, the system churns out 515 watts for your ultimate

Engine Specs and performance

To back its claim as the top dog of the lineup, the 2017
Peugeot 3008 GT is powered by the most potent engine available
in the 3008 lineup. The engine is the turbodiesel 2.0 L,
BlueHDi 180. The engine is capable of producing 177 horses (180
PS as the name suggest).

The engine is paired to Peugeot’s EAT6 six-speed automatic
transmission system.  Peugeot is yet to release details on
its performance as well as fuel economy figures. However, the
automaker has assured that the engine will have an excellent
performance and return impressive fuel economy figures.

Price and release date

Peugeot has not disclosed the price of the new 2017 Peugeot
3008 GT or even the standard
3008 models. Currently, the base 3008 has a starting price
of £20,045 ($28,360) which I expect to significantly rise with
the new model to around $ 30,000. Going by this, I believe a
starting price of around $ 40,000 is likely for the
range-topping GT. All models including the standard 3008 models
will go on sale starting this November (2016).
