2017 Audi A6 Avant

Audi is one fine luxury automaker. However, time and again its
models look a bit lacking mostly on the exterior when compared
with the likes of BMW and Mercedes.  In this case, though
the A6 competes with the likes of Mercedes
E-Class and BMW 5
Series, the model does not stand out as its competition.

However, Audi is changing all that. The automaker is
introducing a new design language that is meant to shake things
up in this market segment. The automaker is set to release new
models of the A6 lineup sporting a new visual design. In fact,
we understand that the car is being designed alongside the A7
and A8 to ensure all the three models stand out when they come
out in the market. The new A6 models will share a lot of
details with the Prologue
which was unveiled at the last LA auto show.

According to inside sources, the new A6 models will set the
standards in the luxury sedan and wagon segments. Read along to
find out more about the A6 Avant wagon:

2017 Audi A6 Avant Exterior

The new 2017 Audi A6 Avant will be based on the MLB Evo
platform. The Audi e-tron is based on this platform. The new
model will be lighter since its chassis will use a large amount
of aluminum, carbon fiber and high-strength steel.

The A6 Avant will share most of its exterior design with the
sedan. The two models have an identical front. They feature a
new hexagonal grille with high-gloss black struts. (A radiator
grille finished in matt black and gloss chrome is offered in
the S line package). The grille will be flanked by redesigned
headlights using LED graphics and LED DRLs. The front also
features a contoured bonnet and large air intakes. The sides
feature larger wheel houses while the roof, on the other hand,
is flatter to improve the model’s aerodynamics.

At the rear, the vehicle will feature OLED taillights and a new
diffuser which is integrated into the bumper. The models will
also be offered in two new exterior colors which are Gotland
Green and Matador Red as well as a new Java Brown shade. The
rear bumper has also been modified to be more angular.
The Avant like the sedan rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

However, buyers can choose the Advance package which adds a
Soho Brown color with Gray highlights on the exterior and
20-inch alloy wheels.

2017 Audi A6 Avant Interior

Changes also extend to the cabin of the model.  As you
already know, interior styling is where Audi excels. Except for
the different shape due to its slanting rear, the Avant cabin
will be identical to that of the A6 sedan. To start with, the
new cabin will be illuminated by new LED lights.  Premium
leather is the standard upholstery material on its sports

The dashboard, door panels and the shifter also feature a
leather trim. The automaker also offers optional interior
inserts which come in a form of “Fine Grain Birch Natural Agate
Gray” and “Aluminum Ellipse Silver”. Due to its extra length,
the Avant offers better legroom for rear passengers compared to
the sedan. The Avant will also offer more cargo space from the
current 565 liters.

The big news, however, regards its MMI infotainment system. The
new model system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In
addition, the new Audi phone box will support inductive phone
charging for all Smartphones that conform to the Qi standard.
There are three screens at the front, the first hosts the
vehicle’s virtual cockpit, the second on the dash for the
navigation system and MMI information while the third  for
other functions such as controlling its 3-zone  climate
control system.

The 2017 Audi A6 Avant also comes with a 10-speaker JBL audio
system with a rear entertainment package. This package includes
two removable tablets placed on the front seatbacks.

For more features, buyers can opt for the Advanced Package
which comes with features such as high-end Valcona leather.
This package is also offered on the Audi
S7 and A7.

For safety, the A6 Avant will feature stability and traction
control, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, front
and rear parking sensors, ABS, front collision mitigation, lane
change assist and lane keep assist among others. The vehicle
will also have a semi-autonomous driving system which will
allow the vehicle to drive itself for up to a speed of 37 mph.

Engine Specs and performance

Audi is still keeping details of the engines that will power
the Audi A6 models a secret. However, according to rumors the
A6 lineup will feature a number of different engines. Likely
engines include two 4-cylinder drive-trains, a 3.0 L, V-6 as
well as a V-8 engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters. The
latter is being designed jointly with Porsche.

4-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Once we get more
insight on the engines, we will immediately update you. Thus,
make sure to come back for more updates on this model.
The Advance package adds permanent AWD Quattro with a sport
